FAQ
New to Oil
If you have just moved to a new house which uses home heating oil or are thinking about converting to a new efficient condensing oil-fired heating system or are planning to install an Aga Range Cooker, you probably have lots of questions.
We at Tincknells are here to help, we have over 60 years experience dealing with Heating Oil deliveries and with servicing of Oil fired appliances
The First Question is usually 'Which heating Oil do I need?'
Most oil fired boilers and cookers are fuelled by kerosene (known as home heating oil, heating oil and burning oil.) however some do use Gas Oil, If you have moved into a property, there is a good chance that there is a sticker on the heating oil storage tank which will tell you what fuel you need. if you can't find out,
speak to your Local Depot or our Heating Services Department who should be able to help.
There are now a range of additives that help improve your heating oil, we have specific ones for Aga's and range cookers as well as our Tincknell Premium Kerosene designed for oil fired boilers, don't forget to ask about them when you call.
What do I need to know before I call you?
We can usually help you, even if you don't know the answers, but these are the main items of information that will help.
- The size of your oil tank
- Has your appliance been serviced by an OFTEC registered technician recently
- Is your storage tank in good condition
- How easy it is to access your oil storage tank
- How easy it is to access your property (most tankers are about the size of a small bus)
If your appliance has not been serviced recently, contact our Heating Services, who will be happy to arrange a service for you
If you are not sure about your oil storage tank, take a look at our DIY Tank Check List or download the getting to know your Oil tank information leaflet
How much should I order?
Our minimum delivery quantity is 500 litres, you can order as much as you want, however if you order more than 2300 litres, we will need declaration of use so that you still qualify for VAT at 5%
Does Ordering a larger volume influence the price?
Yes, larger quantities are cheaper to purchase per litre than smaller quantities. Ordering 500 litres (our minimum) at a time puts the cost up to you and to us
What about in the future?
There are number of ways to make life easier for you in the future
We have an automatic delivery service (so you never have to worry about running out of oil)
We have a saving scheme to help you spread the cost of your oil, by making monthly payments by direct debit in to your "Tincknell Account" when you need to order fuel, you just pay the difference between the amount in your account and the cost of the order.
We can service your appliance, we recommend that you join our Service and Breakdown Plan, this provides an annual service and breakdown cover for a low monthly cost. We also carry out quality servicing and repairs without you being a member of our Service and Breakdown plan, call our heating services on 01749 678828 or visit www.tincknellheating.com for more details.
