Tank Safety Check List

Please complete the answers below, to check the safety of your tank.

Has your tank been checked by an OFTEC Registered Technician in the last 12 months?

Is there a fully supporting concrete base?

Is the base 30cm wider than the tank on all four sides?

Do you have water or sludge in your tank?

If you have a sight gauge, is it working, secured and readable?

Are all Filler and Vent caps fitted and complete?

Can you easily see down all sides of the tank?

Is the area clear of rubbish or plants?

Are there any signs of corrosion or degradation (oil staining, discolouration, cracks, crazing or severe rusting)?

Are there any signs of damage, interference or any obvious leaks?

Are there any signs of bulging or distortion?

If you have an offset fill are all the connections secure and with no signs of seepage?

Examples of Tank Problems

Check for leaks, rust or weeping from any part of the tank, but especially at the main corrosion points
